  • No opening date has been announced as of late October 2026.

Terry Black’s Barbecue is coming to Old Town Scottsdale. Black Family Hospitality, the company behind the Central Texas-style smokehouse, closed on a nine-parcel property at 3925 N. Brown Avenue on Oct. 20, 2026. The $11.2 million purchase marks the brand’s first-ever Arizona location — and the first Terry Black’s to open outside of Texas.

Your new Old Town dining option — and why buying the block instead of leasing it matters to you

If you live in or near Old Town Scottsdale, this isn’t just another restaurant announcement. Most national chains lease their space and walk away if sales disappoint. Terry Black’s didn’t do that. Black Family Hospitality spent $11.2 million to own the property outright. That’s a flagship-level bet, not a trial run.

The site sits at the corner of Brown Avenue and Main Street — one of Old Town’s most visible intersections. When it opens, you’ll have one of the most-talked-about Central Texas BBQ brands a short drive or walk from some of the Valley’s most popular bars, galleries, and restaurants. That kind of draw tends to pull foot traffic and put competitive pressure on the dining district around it.

For anyone watching Scottsdale commercial real estate, the $11.2 million price tag on a 0.74-acre site with about 10,409 square feet of existing buildings is a meaningful data point. LevRose partner Danielle Davis called it “a truly unique opportunity to acquire one of Old Town Scottsdale’s most recognizable and irreplaceable properties,” adding that the property’s “full-block scale, visibility and location made it an exceptionally rare offering.” That’s broker language for: sites like this almost never come available.

The property: nine parcels, one corner, and what the buildings look like now

The site spans nine separate parcels assembled into a single 0.74-acre footprint. The existing buildings total roughly 10,409 square feet. The structures on the property today are Spanish Colonial-style stucco buildings — two stories, with palm trees and landscaped gardens visible from the street.

That existing square footage will almost certainly be reconfigured. Terry Black’s other locations use open, warehouse-style interiors built for high-volume smoked-meat service. The current buildings read as retail or office space.

The deal team: who brokered the sale

LevRose Commercial Real Estate, a Scottsdale-based brokerage founded in 1992, announced the completed sale. Three LevRose brokers — Danielle Davis, Branden Mondragon, and Trent McCullough — represented the sellers. No buyer’s broker was named in the announcement.

Terry Black’s only location outside Texas — what that signals for Scottsdale

Terry Black’s Barbecue was founded in 2014 by siblings Christina, Mike, and Mark Black in honor of their father, Terry Black. Every location since then has been in Texas. The brand also has a Nashville location planned, but as of late October 2026, Nashville Guru listed it as coming soon with a 2027 expected open date.

That makes Scottsdale the brand’s first out-of-Texas location to actually open — not just announce. It’s a short list of markets the Black family trusts with their name outside the state where they built it.

How fast has Terry Black’s grown — the expansion since 2022

The brand’s growth has been steady and deliberate. Since 2022, Terry Black’s has added locations in Fort Worth, Houston, Lockhart, New Braunfels, and Waco, plus a Houston Heights location. The New Braunfels opening on Sept. 15, 2026, was identified as the brand’s eighth location overall. The Houston Heights location at 1329 N. Shepherd Drive opened on Aug. 18, 2026. Scottsdale is the next move after that string of Texas openings.

Opening date, design plans, and what we don’t know yet

No opening date for the Scottsdale location has been announced. No design plans or construction timeline have been released publicly. What is confirmed: the property is purchased, the deal closed, and Black Family Hospitality owns the land at the corner of Brown Avenue and Main Street in Old Town Scottsdale.
